Al Seef Heritage Zone

Al Seef Heritage Zone is a 1.8-kilometer waterfront district on Dubai Creek that pairs old Arabian architecture with a modern promenade. Built by Meraas and opened in 2017, Al Seef Heritage Zone sits beside the historic Al Fahidi neighborhood in Bur Dubai, giving visitors a walkable mix of wind-tower buildings, souks, cafes, and creek views. It’s one of the easiest free things to do in Old Dubai.

What to Expect

The Al Seef Heritage Zone splits into two connected stretches. The heritage side has coral-stone buildings, narrow sikkas (alleyways), and small museums that recreate Dubai’s pearl-diving and trading past. The modern side has glass-fronted shops, waterfront restaurants, and open plazas that host live performances and seasonal events.

Abra rides across Dubai Creek are available from the waterfront, along with traditional dhow-watching spots. The Al Seef Heritage Museum is a quick, worthwhile stop for families wanting context on Dubai’s maritime history before continuing along the creek.

Insider Tips

  • Visit in the early evening for cooler weather and lit-up alleyways.
  • Combine your trip with nearby Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood — it’s a five-minute walk.
  • Weekday visits are quieter than Thursday–Saturday evenings.
  • Bring cash for small souk vendors who don’t always accept cards.
  • Retail shops close earlier than restaurants, so plan shopping before 10 PM.
