Editorial Policy

WhatToDoDubai (“WTDD”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to providing accurate, useful, and trustworthy content about Dubai. This Editorial Policy explains how we research, write, review, and maintain our content, and how we handle advertising, affiliate relationships, and sponsored placements. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy.

1. Our Editorial Mission

WTDD exists to help tourists, residents, and expats confidently plan experiences in Dubai — from attractions and restaurants to hidden gems and neighborhood guides. Every piece of content we publish is created with one goal: to give the reader a genuinely useful, accurate, and current answer to what they searched for.

We do not publish content purely to fill space or chase keywords. If an article doesn’t help a real reader make a real decision, it doesn’t get published.

2. Experience — Content Grounded in Real Knowledge of Dubai

Wherever possible, our guides are written or verified by people with direct, first-hand familiarity with Dubai — its neighborhoods, attractions, seasonal patterns, and local customs. Where a writer has personally visited a place, tried a restaurant, or attended an event, we say so.

Practical, experience-based details — opening hours, price ranges, how to get there, what to expect on arrival, tips that only come from having been there — are prioritized over generic descriptions that could apply to any city.

3. Expertise — Research and Subject-Matter Accuracy

Every article is researched using reliable, current sources, which may include:

  • Official tourism, government, and attraction websites.
  • Venue and business websites and verified booking platforms.
  • Reputable travel and news publications.
  • Direct contact with businesses or venues where relevant.

Writers are expected to understand the topic they are covering — not just summarize what already exists online. Factual claims (prices, hours, ticket requirements, safety or entry rules) are cross-checked before publication.

4. Authoritativeness — Building Topical Trust

WTDD focuses specifically on Dubai and the wider UAE. Rather than spreading across unrelated topics, we concentrate our coverage — attractions, dining, events, neighborhoods, and travel planning — so that our content reflects deep, consistent knowledge of the destination rather than shallow, one-off posts.

Author information is displayed where applicable, and we link between related guides so readers (and search engines) can see the depth of our coverage on a given topic.

5. Trustworthiness — Accuracy, Transparency, and Corrections

Accuracy first. We do not knowingly publish false, misleading, or unverifiable information. Where information may change (prices, opening hours, event dates), we note that readers should confirm details directly with the venue or organizer before visiting.

Clear disclosure. Affiliate links, sponsored content, and advertising are always identified — see Sections 8 and 9 below.

Corrections. If a factual error is identified, it is corrected as soon as possible. Where a correction is material, we may note the update date on the article. Readers can report suspected errors via hello.whattododubai@gmail.com.

No fake engagement. We do not fabricate reviews, testimonials, ratings, or user comments.

6. Content Creation and Review Process

Our standard workflow for published articles is:

  1. Topic selection — based on genuine reader search intent and relevance to Dubai.
  2. Research — using the sources described in Section 3.
  3. Writing — drafted to directly answer the reader’s question, in plain, useful language.
  4. Editorial review — checked for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to this policy before publishing.
  5. Ongoing updates — evergreen guides (attractions, neighborhoods, “best of” lists) are periodically reviewed and refreshed as details change.

7. Use of AI Tools

WTDD may use AI-assisted tools to support research, drafting, or editing efficiency. AI is used as a tool, not a replacement for editorial judgment: no article is published without human review for accuracy, relevance, and quality. WTDD does not publish unreviewed, mass-generated, or auto-published AI content, and remains fully responsible for everything it publishes, regardless of what tools were used to help produce it.

8. Advertising

WTDD displays advertising, including through Google AdSense and similar programs, to support the cost of running the platform. Advertising is served in clearly delineated ad spaces and is never disguised as editorial content. The presence of an ad does not imply WTDD’s endorsement of the advertiser, product, or service.

9. Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content

WTDD participates in affiliate marketing programs (e.g. tours, hotels, attractions, and travel products). Some links may earn a commission if a reader books or purchases through them, at no extra cost to the reader.

Sponsored articles or featured placements, where accepted, are clearly labeled as sponsored, paid, or in partnership with the relevant business. Editorial coverage is never for sale: a business cannot pay for a favorable review, a higher rating, or the removal of accurate but unflattering information. Our recommendations reflect our own editorial judgment, not advertiser or sponsor influence.

10. Editorial Independence

Advertisers, affiliate partners, and sponsors have no influence over our editorial recommendations, ratings, or “best of” selections. Business listing submissions are reviewed for accuracy and relevance, not accepted on the basis of payment (see our Terms of Service, Section 5).

11. Corrections and Feedback

We welcome reader feedback on accuracy, outdated information, or broken links. Reports can be sent to:
