Alserkal Avenue Dubai

Alserkal Avenue is Dubai’s leading contemporary art district, tucked inside a converted warehouse compound in Al Quoz. What began as a handful of galleries in 2008 has grown into a full creative hub with over 20 galleries, concept stores, an independent cinema, and artisan cafes. It’s one of the few spots in Dubai where the city trades glass towers for raw concrete and real culture. For visitors planning a full Dubai itinerary, Alserkal Avenue is a refreshing, low-cost stop away from the malls and skyscrapers.

Things to Do at Alserkal Avenue

  • Gallery hop — over 20 galleries showing contemporary Middle Eastern and international art.
  • Catch a film at Cinema Akil, Dubai’s only independent arthouse cinema.
  • Browse concept stores for homegrown fashion, design, and vintage furniture.
  • Grab coffee at one of the warehouse-turned-cafes tucked between studios.
  • Attend a talk or workshop hosted by the Alserkal Arts Foundation.
  • Watch live performances at The Junction, a space for comedy, dance, and theatre.
  • Time your trip around Quoz Arts Fest or Dubai Art Week for a packed cultural calendar.

Insider Tips

  • Visit on a weekday morning to explore galleries without the weekend crowd.
  • Combine your trip with nearby Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood for a heritage-to-modern art day out.
  • Check the Alserkal Avenue website beforehand — exhibitions rotate often, and some spaces close between shows.
  • Wear comfortable shoes; the compound is larger than it looks and best explored on foot.
  • Pair your visit with the wider Al Quoz gallery scene — many independent spaces sit just outside the main avenue.

Plan Your Visit

Opening Hours

Alserkal Avenue is open daily, with general timings from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Individual galleries, stores, and cafes may keep their own hours, so it’s worth checking specific venues before visiting late in the day.

Best Time to Visit

The cooler months, November to April, are the best time to visit Alserkal Avenue, especially for outdoor events and festivals. Late afternoon into early evening is ideal for gallery visits followed by a relaxed coffee. Summer months (June–September) bring high heat, so plan for shorter, indoor-focused visits.
